Our Bucket List

Michael and I one day decided to make a bucket list individually. We then shared with one another what was on our bucket lists. There were a few items that were the same, but it was so fun to see what was important and fun to the other person. Some of the items are holiday related, some of the items would only work if we both had a whole day off, some things are not about us as a couple but about serving others. I just love that it's something we can work towards together. So I thought I would share some of the items from our Bucket List and show you pictures of the ones we have accomplished! (In no particular order)

1. Wander around Ikea

2. Carve Pumpkins.
(I wish I could say mine was any of the other pumpkins but the third one from the left.. however I have to claim it and tell you that I am NOT an artist. Im not even decent at carving pumpkins, and no I don't know what it even is that I carved if I'm being honest. It started as a coffee cup on a saucer, but it somehow turned into some sort of cat-like peekachu....)

3. Train for and run a 1/2 marathon together
4. See zoo lights
5. Drive to the beach and spend a day drinking coffee and reading together
6. Volunteer in a soup kitchen
7. Paint pottery for one another
8. Drive to Seattle- See a Mariners game
9. See a Broadway play
10. Cook Michael dinner
11. Drive to Timberline to have a snowed-in day, and then stay with my family friends in Redmond
12. Go to a Blazer game
13. Date night on 23rd
14. X-Men marathon
15. Make a gingerbread house
16. Read through the whole bible together

Do you have bucket list items? What are they? We would love more ideas!!

DIY- Gifts for Whatever Occasion

This week I had a baby shower to go to. I was helping celebrate the birth of Jack Smith, who is Mason's son! I was on my way to Target (standard) to pick up a gift and came across the $1.00 corner that they have set up in the entryway to suck people in LIKE ME! They have found their target marker... Katie Moon. Anways, they do have some great finds in there though. I like to find my gift wrap and packaging in this area. I found these cute plastic containers for $1.00 and then I go from there with my gift idea. Since I was on my way to a baby shower, I started thinking of all things baby to put in this little container along with a gift card. So I found a package of 2 binkies that were the perfect size to put in the container. I added some Hershey kisses at the bottom to add weight and put the gift card right in the middle. This assembly project is great for any occasion, you just have to get creative. They would be great for Christmas gifts, just add peppermint dove chocolates, or Hershey kisses and put an ornament inside with a gift card. Do whatever you like, just have fun with it! Assembling the gifts yourself makes it alot more fun to give!
I even ended up buying another container to fill with candy for the boyfriend, and a little love note for the the cherry on top. I delivered it to his office. The funny thing about me and Michael is that our love languages are completely different. (Don't know what I'm talking about, figure out your love language here) Michael is a words person. He is poetic and great at communicating his thoughts/feelings. He also is a quality time person, who loves just spending time with me or his family/friends. I on the otherhand have found out, that I am much more of an acts of service or gifts person. I love more than anything to find little notes on my car that he has left me, or love receiving flowers. So I brought this little treat by his office, but I think he was more excited just to see me. haha. We balance each other out.
Hope this DIY gifty is helpful as the holidays get closer. Can't wait!!!

What I Always Do

You guys I always do this! I go three months with acceptance of my hair, and then I start getting antsy. I am currently in the process of growing my hair out, and so I trim it every two months or so and it is the healthiest it has been in a loooong time. But today I am here to say I am so bored with the color. So many of my friends are dying their hair, cutting their hair, making it ombre', going dark. But I am so undecided. I look at old photos of me with blonde hair and I long for those days. I see pictures of my friends who went dark and I am so close to driving to Freddies to pick up a box of dye. My latest trend has been with ombre' hair. I have pretty short hair but I have seen some cute ombre' styles on short hair, but ultimately I am so undecided. Here are some pictures I have been looking through...

I am curious if the blonde would be just subtle enough, and wouldn't wash me out. I am afraid that the dark hair would wash me out in the winter time with my more pale skin. Hmmmm... suggestions needed and wanted!

Latest Love

One of the trends I am loving. Trying to find a sweater like this that is affordable is the problem. Where have you gotten yours? Or have you seen them somewhere for cheap? Help!

I Get to be the One...

While I was running yesterday I was listening to the JJ Heller Pandora station when a song called "I get to be the one" came on. I suspect it was a song written from the perspective of a mother, but listening to the lyrics I realized that the song applied to me as a new aunt as well. The song brought an instant smile to my face and tears to my eyes when I thought about my nephew Malachi. I thought about the honor I have of getting to see this baby boy grow up. I get to be the one who watches him crawl and walk. I get to be the one who learns what makes him happy and I get to be the one who encourages him when he's sad. I get to be the one who watches him express his athletic talent, and I get to be the one who watches the girls chase after him. I can't even describe to you how much I love him, and how full my heart is when I am around him, the emptiness I feel when I can't see him. I long for him like a hunger. My heart is already so attached, and I'm only his aunt. I can only imagine the feelings of my sister-in-law and brother. They are such amazing parents and it has been so fun watching them grow into this new season. I have also realized that is is wonderful being an aunt and not a mama quite yet because I am not ready. It is such a massive responsibility and it is great seeing that from my perspective as an aunt. When the time comes down the road I will be overjoyed to be a mother, for I know that is my calling in this life. For now I long for my time with my nephew and beam when I am around him. My heart is so full because of you little nephew of mine. You are perfect, and precious in every way. I could kiss your little round cheeks forever (but I won't because eventually you will be grown, and that would be weirrrrrrd). I love you to the Moon and Back little boy.

From the Overflow of my Heart,
-Auntie Kate

(Have a listen to this song, it really is very sweet)
