My Big Move

Happens today! Hard to believe that last night was my last night in my house. Tomorrow, I move to Portland. Granted it's not far from mom and dad's, but it's still a move. I moved out when I was 18 and lived away for 4 years in Corvallis. But I was literally born into this house as you can see below. That photo was taken in January '89, my parents had purchased their first home and moved me and my 3 1/2 year old brother in. Talk about stability, my parents have lived there 24 years now. There is no place that feels more like comfort and home than this place. But tomorrow, a new chapter! I know full well I will still be at my parent's house often for rest, food, visits. They aren't rid of me quite yet.
Last night was even a little tearful for me. I started scrubbing my bathroom and realized that as long as I have been wanting to move out, I am more sad than I thought I would be. I will miss my parents. Waking up in the morning knowing they are there. Waking up on Saturday mornings to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and mom and dad on the couches reading. I will miss coming home from a long day to their encouragement and pick-me-ups. I love my parents.
On the upside, I know that maturity comes from being on your own. I grew up so much in the 4 years I lived away in Corvallis. I know it's time for that same independence again. Excited to get my room all situated, and once I do I promise to post pictures of my adorable home!

(Now: please excuse the grass, my parents have been on vacation :)

Love and Moving
