New York is ALWAYS a Good Idea

So I'm headed to Washington DC in August to spend time with one of my besties (also she happens to be my cousin) Christian!! Then we are going from DC to New York!! I am going to be such a tourist! So many photos will be taken and so many fun memories will be made with my cousin. Oh and SHOPPING! Already preparing my budget now. Look at me expanding my horizons. Hawaii last year, DC and NY this year! Vacations are so fun to look forward to, and I can't wait to experience what the Eastern side of the US has to offer. I'm glad my cousin has been to NY before so she will know where to take me. I know for sure I want to go for a long run in Central Park and to go see a musical on Broadway would be such a dream come true! Can you tell I'm excited? Maybe just a little bit...
After we experience NY we will head back to DC and I will see all that DC has to offer too!

I am excited to start seeing new places! I have been such a worry wart about traveling, and have been content just staying on the west coast (with a one time trip to Canada, Mexico and Hawaii). I am ready to be more adventurous!

Love and is it August Yet?!

A Tulip Filled Weekend

After a somewhat rough Thursday, my sweet man picked me up Friday afternoon for such a fun surprise! He knew how much I love tulips and so he took me to the Tulip Garden out past Woodburn. You guys it is SO beautiful!!!! I was loving every second, and loving just walking around holding his hand. On a pretty day it is overwhelming how incredible the beauty is, with the flowers and the mountain in the background. We couldn't stay too long because we went back home for the Good Friday service at Colossae.

We closed the coffee shop on Easter so it was really nice to have an additional day off last week. Ev and I attended Colossae in the morning and then went to his parents house for a wonderful brunch and an adult three-legged Easter egg hunt! It was so much fun! Then we headed to my family's house for dinner. It was a full day for sure and I was so exhausted that I missed the end of the BLAZER GAME! It was such an epic game and I was snoozing. It was a great day filled with family and friends, and lots of good snuggle time with my nephews. Sorry I didn't get more pictures from Easter :/

Happy Tuesday time to get my day going!

My Makeover

Before

After

Well I got my hair done last week! But guys I just don't know how I'm feeling... :/ I look at pitures of my lighter blonder look and I already miss it. I was sick of having my ombre' and wanted a change so I decided to go dark. I'm having second thoughts. I'm wondering if just adding some caramel highlights would help, or if I just need to get out in the sun so that will lighten it up? Ughhh being a girl is as complicated as you make it. Haha! I welcome input and opinions.

This guy. Sunday we had such a fun date day after church and before I headed to work. We walked around the Village and went to a small Farmers Market and got fresh fruit. Then we picked up some sandwiches and headed to Gabriel Park. We sat on blankets in the park while we layed in the sun and just soaked up one on one time. My love language by the way. This man is so good to me. He knew I was craving some time for just the two of us, and so he planned it all out. I headed to work with a bit of a sunburn and a full heart. Evan is a blessing, and I am a bit smitten.

Time to get my day started, I have had quite a lazy morning on my day off!

Life in Fast Forward

Shirls !!

Favorite coffee spot in Corvallis was right down the street from my old house

So many memories in this home

A day off of mowing, reading and sitting in the sunshine

Baby Maximus was born on Thursday!!

The most precious site. I love these boys with all my heart!!

Last week on one of my days off I got to go to Corvallis to see my old mentor and dear friend Shirley. So great catching up with her and made me feel like I was back in college all over again. Driving into Corvallis I had no idea how nostalgic I was going to get. It was a sunny afternoon and the spring time in Corvallis was always my FAVORITE! The students are all getting excited for the summer and the glimpses of sunshine bring out the best endorphin's. I was such a nerd though. I decided it was a good idea to drive by my old house and take pictures... The people who live there now were probably so creeped out but I just couldn't resist! The memories in that house. The community, the dances, the coffee shared, the board games played. The movie nights, the late night roommate talks. The family dinners, the backyard bonfires. The relationships that were initiated. These are the memories that have changed my life, and I will never forget. (WOW, sorry I just got so sappy!) I haven't even gotten to the part about my brand new NEPHEW!! Thursday morning at 10:00 my second nephew Max was born. My sister in law did so great and was completely natural! She is such a rockstar, and such an incredible mama. She loves the boys so much and it is so incredible to watch Malachi already love on his baby brother. It was so fun getting to babysit Malachi while his mom and dad were at the hospital. I even had a little help from a handsome boyfriend of mine who brought over dinner and flowers. Evan is such a natural with Malachi, it just warmed my heart. The Moon family is immensely blessed. To be an aunt is the best gift of all. Baby Max is perfect and tiny tiny. So in love.

Life is crazy, but it sure is beautiful. I have decided to get back into the real estate world a little too. I am going to be helping my friend Thomas with his transactions in my "free time." The extra money will be great, but please be praying for my sanity.

Today is my day off, so I am going to go out in the sunshine and enjoy it.

Companion Series: Mel

Mel:

Meet Mel. My daring, independent, caring and beautiful friend. Mel and I have a redemptive friendship story. One that has Jesus written all over it. Mel and I decided to be freshman roommates in the dorms at Oregon State (Finley represent). The total time we lasted as roommates was 2 months. We just couldn't do it. We were too different. We were living separate lives. So we decided it was best to part ways. Fast forward to the end of freshman year and I remember receiving a text message from Mel apologizing for how our friendship and living situation hadn't worked out. I was equally apologetic and Mel and I made baby steps forward. The rest of college we never really spent any time together but I would see her on campus or at the gym and we always had a good time catching each other up on our lives. Once I left Corvallis to return home to Portland Mel was getting in touch with me to meet up for coffee. She had just returned home from a summer spent at Washington Family Ranch and she was looking to find friends that were believers like she was. Mel had started walking with the Lord and when we met for coffee it was so apparent that she had. Mel was different. Mel was beautiful. She had a softness to her. I was so excited to be sitting enjoying coffee with a friend of mine who had made the decision to give her life to Christ. She wanted to be plugged in, at church, with friends, with a women's group. I recommended she join Jan's group with me that would be starting that fall and she was in. This is where our real friendship started. Since then I have watched Mel grow into a new woman who is seeking God's will for her life and learning what that looks like. She has a hunger for His truth that she continues to seek after.

Mel is genuine. Mel is honest. Mel makes me laugh. When we spend evenings together enjoying a glass of wine or watching The Bachelor we can just sit and talk with abandon. Mel draws honesty out of me when I can tend to be a "sugar coater." But this woman is a listener. I love this about her. She asks questions and genuinely wants to hear the answer. She is a cheerleader and she encourages me. I am so grateful she is in my life and I am thankful for the many ways we just laugh and get to enjoy life together.

Mel,

I am so proud of the woman you have become because you have let Christ rule your life. Thank you for being someone I can receive honesty from, and someone I can be silly with. My guess is we will still be talking Borat til we're 90 and grey. We are very different from each other but I am thankful for that because I think we learn from each other that way. You are a bold woman and people admire you for that. You also have a sweetness to you that I see more and more in just the simple ways you care for the people in your life. You are certainly loyal . I am grateful for our friendship and grateful that Jesus loves redemptive stories. Our redemptive story is a good one, so thanks for not giving up on me and for helping me be a more honest person. Love you friend.

Love Kate
