A little Foggy

I went running last night with my friend Zach. If you want to run after work you have to accept that you will be running in the dark. That is why I prefer to run with someone else among other reasons. Well Zach and I ran to a small park close to his house. This park is cool in that it has a loop around the playground and basketball court. Basically a track just not rubber, and it's not a full mile in distance. Zach wanted to do some sprints around the track. He was of course way faster than me as he knew the track, he had run it many times before. So I started running the track with the intention to sprint and because it was so foggy I could barely see a few feet in front of me. I was running and trusting that there wouldn't be some obstacle in my way or some pit in the pavement. It started reminding me of my walk with the Lord. Following the Lord is a lot like sprinting in the fog. We can't always see what lies before us but we keep taking steps in the right direction trusting the Lord won't let us fall. The more times I went around the track the more confident I felt about running in the darkness. Just like the longer we walk with the Lord the more we learn about giving up on our own understanding and just fully surrendering to His will and to his sovereignty.

Jeremiah 29:11

" For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope."

I needed to read that verse this morning. I am moving this week and I am excited to be in a new place to create new memories. I have hope that the Lord has better plans for my life than I have for myself. That he loves me and has beautiful things in store for me. I just have to take one step a time following him, listening to his voice as he guides me through the fog.
